Scout's Legacy Foundation

The Foundation was formed to help those who need it pay for their dogs training. Service Dogs are so expensive, so much work to train, and so much money on a disabled handler and family. The goal of the Foundation is to raise funds to help those who need that extra support so that they can live a better life with less stress during the training process.

The Need

There are many ways people are able to get a Service Dog. Some traditional ways include working with a Service dog Program who is already a non profit who can raise millions to train the dogs for free for clients, which is FANTASTIC for so many people, but unrealistic for even more. Those programs have large waitlists, long wait times, and will only train certain disabilities and a cookie cutter approach. It is not a one size fits all unfortunately.

Another way is to work with training programs/trainers who are able to train for you specifically with a dog in mind. This is a great way to watch the progress from start to finish but can cost upwards of $40,000-$50,000. The time of two years of work for a trainer, plus dog expenses can add up for people.

One resource many have gone too is Owner Training their dog. Some without a trainer, but many with. While it can help cut some costs, it definitely doesn't cut as much as people assume. Those costs can creep up on people faster than anticipated.

That is where we are hoping to help! Raising funds is DAUNTING and when you are not a non profit many people are hesitant to help. The mission for Scout's Legacy Foundation is to bring both education and support with service dog training. While we are NOT the training side of Service Dog Training, we are the side many will need. The money is the number one reason why people cannot get a service dog. The cost of keeping an animal is not the hardship that people struggle with, but that extra amount for training could bankrupt a disabled person. Having financial support is everything for those who struggle daily.

Our Board and Volunteers are so eager to bring more awareness to Service Dogs, the amount of training, and the cost it takes to bring one to someone who needs it. The more money we raise the more we can help people, and that is our number one goal.

The Scout's Legacy Foundation is a 501(3) non profit operated in the State of Texas.
