Psychiatric Service Dogs

Psychiatric Service Dogs are service dogs that perform tasks for many psychiatric and mental disabilities. Psychiatric Service Dogs differ from emotional support animals in that they perform tasks that mitigate the disability of their handler. Comfort or making you feel better is not a task under the Americans with Disabilities Act meaning the psychiatric service dog. Psychiatric service dogs can aid people with Autism, PTSD, Panic Disorders, and more. Some task examples include:

  • Grounding
  • Deep Pressure Therapy
  • Stopping OCD tendancies
  • Finding an Exit
